The sequel to TRON was conceived by director Joe Kosinski as a real world. His goal was to make it feel real saying he "wanted the materials to be real materials: glass, concrete, steel, so it had this kind of visceral quality." He also said, "We pulled [artists] from the world of architecture, from automotive design, people who have never worked in movies before. We flew people in from all over the world."

It was a success and, four years later, Kosinski is still planning a sequel. He told Assignment X, "We're working on the story right now. Once we get a script we're all really happy with, we'll take it to the powers that be and see if we can go back to the Grid. I think we will pick [up] with where Tron Legacy left off with Quorra in the real world and what does that mean and the possibilities it opens up for the next chapter. It's the relationship between the two of them that's the next step."

One of the artists that helped bring Kosinski and Darren Gilford's vision to life is David Vyle Levy.

Levy is a professional concept and storyboard artist who's worked on blockbuster movies like Prometheus (2012), Ender's Game (2013) and The Thing (2011).
